Eesti Pank issues a collector coin dedicated to the Olympic Games

On Monday, July 5, a gold collector coin dedicated to the Olympic Games and with the face value of 100 kroons is being released for sale to the public. The coin has been issued by Eesti Pank.

The obverse of the coin, which was designed by artist Tiit Jürna, depicts the national coat of arms of the Republic of Estonia, the text 'Eesti Vabariik', and the year of issuance, 2004. The middle of the reverse bears the symbols of the Estonian Olympic Committee and the text '100 KROONI', and the edge of the coin is rimmed by three rows of names of the 19 Estonian Olympic Games winners. The coins have been produced by Mint of Lithuania; the mintage is limited to 5,000 coins. The pure gold coin (Au 999.9/1000) is 22.0 millimetres in diameter and weighs 7.776 grams.

The Olympic Games coin has been minted to recognize the Olympic movement and the achievements of Estonian Olympic heroes over the years. The coin is a sequel to the silver Olympic Games coins issued in 1992 and 1996.

The collector coin can be purchased for EEK 1985 at the Eesti Pank Museum on July 5 from 14:00. The Olympic Games coin can also be obtained by post. The according requests are asked to be addressed to the Cash and Security Department of Eesti Pank at 13 Estonia Puiestee, Tallinn 15095 or by e-mail hsinisaar@epbe.ee.
