PRESS RELEASE 28.02.2006

The euro.eesti.ee web page is open

Today the official euro information web page euro.eesti.ee was opened. The aim of the web page is to provide diverse materials regarding the euro and explain the process of the adoption of the euro in Estonia.

The EuroVeeb offers euro information of general and practical interest, including the introduction of the euro. The web site contains different surveys and articles, as well as overviews of the experience of other countries in launching the single currency. It is also possible to ask questions and express one's opinion on the site.

The EuroVeeb forms a part of the national preparations for the changeover. "Discharging information constitutes a substantial part of the preparatory work. The official euro site will be an information distribution centre, which is continuously updated," said Mr Andres Lipstok, Governor of Eesti Pank at the opening of the web site.

The EuroVeeb provides information in three languages: Estonian, English and Russian.

The changeover campaign's official emblem Tere Euro (Hello Euro) was also introduced at the opening ceremony and it can be found on the euro site as well.
