The research award is dedicated to the memory of URMAS SEPP (1956-2002), long-time Head of Eesti Pank's Macroeconomic
Research Department, and its goal is to foster scientific research in the field of economics and value the acquisition of a scientific degree. In
2008, the research award is 35,000 kroons.
Eesti Pank's research award serves to show recognition for
conducting outstanding economic research. We welcome research papers concerning any field of economics and there are no restrictions on research
topics. All master's and doctoral students below the age 35 studying in Estonian universities accredited by the Estonian Ministry of
Education as well as research groups comprised of such students are invited to participate.
In order to participate,
applicants must submit a correctly formulated research paper or publication in Estonian or English, a brief
curriculum vitae of the author(s), a written application to participate, a certificate
confirming the applicant's graduate studies issued by the respective university faculty and a summary
of the research paper submitted. The deadline for the submission of documents is April 25, 2008. The research papers may be
sent to the address Economic Research Department, Eesti Pank, Estonia pst. 13, 15095 Tallinn; to the e-mail address
lkulu@epbe.ee or by fax (6311 240).
The competing research papers shall be reviewed by Eesti Pank's award committee, which consists of renowned Estonian
economic scientists. The assessment of the papers shall be based on their quality and originality. Eesti Pank reserves the right not to grant the
award if none of the submitted research papers meet the required quality. Eesti Pank shall announce the results of the competition on its website
by June 1, 2008 at the latest.
The research award dedicated to the memory of Urmas Sepp is awarded since 2003. The winners
of the award are Toomas Hinnosaar (2003), Jaanika Meriküll (2004), Ott-Siim Toomet (2005), Katrin Männik (2006) ning Aaro Hazak (2007).
