Eesti Pank's Open-door Day takes place on Saturday, 6 September, from 12.00 to 16.00.
This year's Open-door Day of Eesti Pank focuses on the Estonian financial sector in general, introducing to the public different state institutions looking after our financial system. Thus, in addition to the Eesti Pank employees, also representatives from the Financial Supervision Authority take the floor. Also, the role of the Ministry of Finance in the functioning of the financial system is discussed.
A versatile programme has been put together for the guests, including exiting performances, excursions, films and games with prizes from Eesti Pank every hour. It is also possible to buy Eesti Pank's monetary products and exchange the specially-designed 1-kroon circulation coins dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia. During the four hours it is possible to learn about the work of the central bank's different departments and the Executive Board and see their workrooms, including the cash sorting desk.
The Open-door Day starts with a public press conference themed "How is the functioning of the financial system ensured in Estonia", where both Governor of Eesti Pank Andres Lipstok and Chairman of the Management Board of the Financial Supervision Authority Raul Malmstein give presentations and answer questions. On the next hours we show a new educational film "How is the Estonian kroon produced?", Head of the Cash and Security Department Rait Roosve speaks about the production of money and arranging cash circulation, and Head of the Business Conduct Supervision Division of the Financial Supervision Authority Andre Nõmm introduces the financial services consumer web site www.minuraha.ee and the interactive game "Oliver Decides".
In the dome gallery of Eesti Pank it is possible to see Tõnis Saadoja's painting exhibition. The Museum of Eesti Pank displays in addition to money that has been in circulation in Estonia also the exhibition "Own state, own money: monetary reforms in the Republic of Estonia".
The Open-door Day of Eesti Pank is hosted by Marko Reikop. Children can enjoy themselves in the play corner, where they are accompanied by Lotte. The cafeteria is also open.
