Jaanus Kroon, Head of the Statistics Department

Statistics Department

  •    prepares and publishes the official external sector statistics of the Estonian economy: monthly and quarterly balance of payments, quarterly international investment position and external debt indicators
  •    participates in the preparation of the external sector statistics of the European Monetary Union and the European Union
  •    manages and develops data bases necessary for Eesti Pank's analyses and mediates Estonia's statistics on the general economy and public finances to the European Central Bank and other international organisations
  •    participates in the work of the European Central Bank, the European Commission, the International Monetary Fund, etc., in developing international statistical standards
  •    contributes to joint researches of the statistical system of European central banks and participates in maintaining common registers and data bases
  •    solves general issues related to the bank's statistics activities and coordinates cooperation in this field.

The Head of the Statistics Department is Jaanus Kroon. Besides him, there are 16 more employees in the department.

The Statistics Department consists of three divisions.

The Methodology Division develops the methodology of statistical work and statistics know-how mediated to international organisations and prepares and analyses the department's statistical outputs.

The Data Management and Collection Division organises statistical surveys and manages survey samples and registries necessary for statistical work.

The Data Processing and Dissemination Division manages and develops operational IT applications and data bases for statistical work and disseminates the department's statistical outputs.
