PRESS RELEASE 28 February 2008
The latest issue of the Kroon & Economy focuses on the balance of payments
Eesti Pank has published the new issue of the economic quarterly the Kroon & Economy, which concentrates on topics dedicated
to the Estonian balance of payments. The current issue aims to provide an overview of the balance of payments
statistics from a theoretical as well as a practical viewpoint. It gives an overview of the general development of Estonia's balance of
payments in 1992-2006 and analyses trends in Estonia's foreign trade over the past thirteen years. In addition, the present issue introduces
some of the problems related to direct investment statistics and looks into the Centralised Securities Database of the European System of Central
Banks. The quarterly also describes various techniques of assessing and analysing the quality of the balance of payments.
Another topic related to the balance of payments that always attracts a lot of attention is travel services. Thus, the current issue of
the Kroon & Economy provides an overview of the back-office of calculating travel service indicators. Moreover, the recent survey results on
the travelling preferences of Estonian residents and ways of financing their trips are revealed. The previous issue of the Kroon &
Economy of December 2007 focused on today's energy related problems. The quarterly is published on the web site of
Eesti Pank at www.bankofestonia.info. The print version can be
